On a Roll!

(Late August 2019 newsletter) — The Argo has been on a roll since returning from our repower hiatus. Fishing on all fronts has been outstanding and our anglers have been fortunate to reap the rewards.

Starting with the first week back finding limits of halibut and striped bass in the bay, to our most recent ventures chasing salmon in the ocean you could not ask for a more productive summer.

Salmon have been on the radar for the past week resulting in daily scores of limits and near limits of fish ranging from 10 to 25 pounds. In the past four days we have not hooked a salmon less than 10 pounds.

Our last trips on the bay found quick limits of striped bass as they boiled to the surface with baits getting chewed as quick as you could get them in the water. There was even a day of halibut limits as well. Of course, this does not happen every day, but results on both species are solid most days.

As for what we have coming up, the Argo is booked on weekends into the last weekend of September. There may be one or two spaces available within that period.

For the latest update or if you have questions, email or call (415) 361-7757. Check out or Facebook or Instagram for recent pics of the latest catches. As with all our trips tackle, bait and fish cleaning are included within the price.

Salmon Winding Down

(Sept. 24, 2018 newsletter) – Opportunity still knocks for anyone looking for a final swing at the outstanding 2018 salmon season. The end is in sight, and the fish are still chomping with a solid fish per rod or better average over the past week aboard the Argo. The sizes are mixed, but nearly every tripContinue Reading

Fall session

A very busy summer season kept the Argo splitting time between bay and ocean waters. Outside the Gate, salmon have remained in mostly a cooperative mood with a few expected bumps in the road. The action is not red hot as it was in July, but a bit more intense, as each bite may meanContinue Reading

Incredible Salmon!

(July 9, 2018 newsletter) – Since the mid June opening bell salmon have climbed on hooks as if it were their final meal. The action is spectacular with daily early limits for most boats. Being an active participate, Argo has limited on every salmon trip to date. The obvious question is how long will itContinue Reading

Bonanza Salmon

Salmon season opened with a bang, or should I say big “yahoo” as fish came flying over the rail. The bite may not stay hot for long, but the number of salmon, of varying sizes, is a very encouraging sign for not just this season, but next couple years. Currently the fish are working offshoreContinue Reading

Extra Special Bass

(May 17, 2018 newsletter) — Like the bay breeze, fishing success has seen its ups and downs this month. The highlight to date is a hefty white seabass weighing 65 pounds. For some unexplained reason more than the usual scattering of these prized fish are popping up in the bay this spring. Running across themContinue Reading

Halibut Outlook

(April 16, 2018 newsletter) — Halibut have overrun the thoughts of bay anglers in the past couple weeks. With catching ranging from good to not so inspiring some days, it’s a matter of being at the right place when they decide to bite. With fish spread throughout the system getting nibbled is often not anContinue Reading

Halibut Horizon

(March 20, 2018 newsletter) The Argo is just about ready to transition into the halibut mode, but not before putting the final touches on sturgeon and striped bass. The adage goes, “don’t leave fish to find fish,” and that is certainly the case right now. Our anchor fishing in San Pablo Bay is still outstandingContinue Reading

Transition Time

(Oct. 24, 2017 newsletter) — Some days it’s a trickle, and other times the faucet is open wide as the 2017 salmon season winds down to the final week. Although everyday brings its own personality the overall action often results in a solid fish per rod with the majority commercial grade quality. The final dayContinue Reading

Home Stretch

(Sept. 19, 2017 newsletter) — We’re coming into the home stretch of what has been an outstanding salmon 2017 session…We will again thank everyone involved in the many projects that have saved our salmon from the predicted impending disaster caused by drought and other not-so natural obstacles. It’s now that time of year when thereContinue Reading
